چکیده

The paper presents two sensor fusion algorithms that were utilized in a wireless sensor network-based acoustic countersniper system. The technique for fusing muzzle blast Time Of Arrival (TOA) data is able to eliminate multipath effects prevalent in urban environments and to resolve multiple simultaneous acoustic sources. The approach for fusing shockwave TOA data that are generated by supersonic projectiles is able to reconstruct the trajectory with an accuracy of 1 degree in both azimuth and elevation for long range shots. If a few muzzle blast detections are also available then accurate range estimation is also performed. The system performance was demonstrated multiple times at different MOUT (Military Operations in Urban Terrain) facilities of the US Army.

A New Approach to Self-Localization for Mobile Robots Using Sensor Data Fusion

This paper proposes a new approach for calibration of dead reckoning process. Using the well-known UMBmark (University of Michigan Benchmark) is not sufficient for a desirable calibration of dead reckoning. Besides, existing calibration methods usually require explicit measurement of actual motion of the robot. Some recent methods use the smart encoder trailer or long range finder sensors such ...

Comparison of Semidistributed Multinode TOA-DOA Fusion Localization and GPS-Aided TOA (DOA) Fusion Localization for MANETs

This paper evaluates the performance of a semidistributed multinode time-of-arrival (TOA) and direction-of-arrival (DOA) fusion localization technique in terms of localization circular error probability (CEP). The localization technique is applicable in mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) when global positioning system (GPS) is not available (GPS denied environments). The localization CEP of the te...

Three Dimensional Localization of an Unknown Target Using Two Heterogeneous Sensors

Heterogeneous wireless sensor networks consist of some different types of sensor nodes deployed in a particular area. Different sensor types can measure different quantity of a source and using the combination of different measurement techniques, the minimum number of necessary sensors is reduced in localization problems. In this paper, we focus on the single source localization in a heterogene...

مکان یابی وفقی موبایل به روش آزمون باقی‌مانده

Determination of mobile localization with time of arrival (TOA) signal is a requirement in cellular mobile communication. In some of the previous methods, localization with non-line-of-sight (NLOS) paths can lead to large position error. Also for simplicity, in most simulations suppose non stationary actual environments as stationary. This paper proposes (residual test + recursive least square)...

Source localization by TDOA with random sensor position errors - Part I: Static sensors

This paper presents a study on source localization using time difference of arrival (TDOA) measurements from static sensors in the presence of random errors in sensor positions. We develop a constrained weighted least squares (CWLS) source localization method which incorporates the relationship between the source position and an auxiliary variable as a constraint. The CWLS source localization i...
